Art of Shadows

In order to cast the following spell you must possess either Spellcraft or Invocation.

The Art of the Shadows

The school of Shadow teaches that where there is light, there will always be shadow. Shadow Magick is a reflection of that, changeable and elusive, where light reveals, Shadow conceals. Born from darkness, and given shape by light, Shadows Magick is the study of obfuscation, of trickery and secrets.

LESSER SPELLS

Confusion			30 seconds		Ranged Mental effect
The caster weaves the shadows around an opponent to distract and confound them. The target of the spell becomes disorientated and may not perform 
coherent actions of a duration of 30 seconds. They may not attack, but may defend themselves if struck. They may still move and speak normally.
Concealment			1 hour			Touch Physical effect		
The caster uses shadows to hide an object of their choosing, making slightly un-real and like to the shadows themselves. The caster may target an 
object and then mark it - by tying a blue ribbon about it. For the next hour the object with the ribbon must be ignored - it is effectively invisible. The 
object can be picked up, moved and interacted with, it just can’t be seen.
Conviction			1 hour			Ranged Mental effect
The caster weaves the shadows to create a believable lie, allowing the caster to talk a target into or out of something. The target will not notice the spell 
is cast upon them, and will believe the one thing the caster tells them until either: 1) they are shown proof to the contrary or 2) someone tells them what 
they have heard is false. This cannot be used to convince a target to be friends when they aren't normally, or that the target's friends are trying to kill 
them. The Resist Con skill can also be used to resist this spell. After 1 hour the effect wears off, leaving the target totally bewildered as to what they 
were just thinking.
Merge				As Camouflage		Self Physical effect
By surrounding themselves in the shadows, the caster may merge with the surrounding area and become invisible to all. The caster must be standing in a 
shadowed area. The caster then obeys all the normal rules and restrictions of, and counts as using, the skill Camouflage.
Shadow Walk			Instant			Self Physical effect
The caster weaves the shadows about themselves to become like the shadows - and is transported through them. The caster may only cast this spell 
whilst standing in a shadowed area. The caster may then reappear in any other shadowed area within 20’. As the player walks from one area to another 
they must place both hands upon their head so that others know the spell has been cast.
Trick of the Light		30 seconds		Self Physical effect	Deflect
The caster uses the shadows to appear to others to be a short distance away. The caster may cast this spell to confuse enemy spell casters. Once cast, 
the caster counts as having the skill rip ‘Deflect’, except that the caster has an unlimited amount of such rips for 30 seconds.

GREATER SPELLS

Confound Foe			30 seconds		Self Physical effect
The caster uses the power of shadow to shift their image in various directions at once. All attacks and non-mental spells targeting the caster have no 
effect and the call “No Effect” must be given. This lasts for 30 seconds, or until the caster makes a hostile action.
Pit of Shades			30 seconds		Ranged Mental effect
The caster uses their power to place shadows in the mind of the victim, making them feeling insecure. The victim of this feels their reality distort, cutting 
them off from the real world and placing their senses into the Aether. This spell lasts 30 seconds. The target may act normally, but cannot interact with 
the world in any way - they cannot pick up objects they do not already hold and spell-casting by the target has ‘No Effect’. If the target is struck in 
combat, they ignore the damage - abilities and Calls have ‘No Effect’.
Shadow Play			30 seconds		Area Mental effect
The caster covers the area about them into deepest shadow. The caster may plunge the immediate area into blackness that only they may see through. 
All light sources are snuffed and Magickal light sources are also snuffed. The skill Blind-fighting has No Effect. This spell last for 30 seconds, and drops 
when the caster performs an offensive action.
Twisted Reality		30 seconds		Ranged Mental effect
 The caster may implant an image into a target’s mind that is so real that the target will believe it above all over things. The type of image is up to the 
caster - though in the case of battle, the caster cannot choose an image, but the victim must behave as if they have gone totally insane. This spell lasts 
for 30 seconds. The effects of this spell after the duration however, have sometimes taken years to come to terms with.
