OGRE

Keywords: Ogre, Oni, Colossus, Cyclops, Titan, Minotaur
Alignment: Ogres are Dark – it is quite bad enough that they are barbaric, carnivorous beings, they are also brutes and cannibals, liable to overthrow weak authority by eating them.

Appearance: Ogres are big. Really big. Bigger than other races. They are strong, well muscled and typically fat, they have little need of cleanliness. They understand basic concepts such as money but being cannibals, never really clean up their blood. Some make their own armour, some their own weapons, but generally Ogres tend to use what they can find about, take form others or hunt down. They often skirmish against the Halflings and take sheep or mountain goats to make skins for wearing.

Regions: Ogres come from the Greiflands. Some might be slaves in the Stromspike above Nakkiga.

Society: Ogres are formed into tribes. Many are nomadic – mostly because they are forced to move one because they have consumed as much as they can about them without depleting the area entirely. Each tribe can be massive and each is lead by a Chieftain.
Each tribe has respected members, from hunters to the Butchers, shaman-like priests that believe in the power of life as gifted by the Star Gods is present in the viscera of living beings.
The actual society of the Ogres is very fluid- an Ogre takes what they want and keep what they can. There is a strong belief of ‘might makes right’ and they find power in their strength.

Government: Ogres have no formal government. However, every now and then, the more older and therefore more learned of the Ogres, can come together to decide a course for their tribe. Their shaman-priest-like Butchers of the Star Gods sometimes meet at the Great Maw, a sacred opening in the earth’s crust and into Erna’s mantle to teach upcoming Butchers. Ogres have no formal government, but every now and then they seem to understand the need for sharing ideas.

Religion: Ogres can sometimes pick up the religions of the other races – such as the Darkened One, the Hungry One or the Devourer. Many, however, worship the Star Gods.

Technology: Ogres can take to crafting easily but the actual theory behind the processes baffle them. Ogres tend to be slow, and for this reason, many of them prefer to stick to simple things. In this way, anything more complex than a simple grind-stone for flour, for example, is typically ignored, though a few might go on to actually bother to study.

Names: Ogres don’t actually have names for each other – if they want to pick another Ogre out of a crowd there is a combine-word set in Ograagh which can be used: ‘that-one-with-the-white-hair’, for example. For ease of use by the other races, however, Ogres are typically given names.
Languages: Common (Dark), Ograagh.
Ages: Ogre maximum age is around 60 years.
Natural Resistance: Ogres have Level 2 Resist Disease and Resist Poison.
Min Phys Rep: Grey, brown, dark blue or purple, charcoal or similar skin. All Ogres must be large and smaller players will require that their costume be bulked out in some fashion to represent the muscle mass and power of an Ogre.

Bonuses: -2 to cost of Physical skills except Dexterity, -1 to cost of Weapons skillsArmour (yes, including Natural Armour!) and all Resistance skills. They begin with one level of Strength and Endurance, which does not count towards their generation or Physical Maximums. Ogres can take Digestion from the Troll section of the Advanced skills list.

Racial Penalties or Restrictions: Ogres pay half again costs of Apothecary, Trade and Lore skills and cannot take Subterfuge skills at all. Ogres cannot take Spellcraft. Those that wish to use Invocation must first pass C&C for ideas. Ogresare restricted technological-wise and all clock-work weaponry must first pass a check by C&C.
